AiM Mobile Inspections Customer Testimonial

Let me first say I'm amazed at how quickly the inspection took place, and truly amazed at how thorough the inspector was. He really documented a lot of paint damage...Again, excellent work! We have a second inspection scheduled with you in a different state, and I'm a huge fam of AiM!  Bill (8-24-2010)

The report I got back was so very accurate. I just want to thank the person involved who did the inspection. The car turned out to be a very bad car for us. You saved us lots of money and heartache. I cannot thank you enough for your outstanding service and experience. Your price was worth every penny!!! I work for General Motors and I will tell everyone I know that's going to buy a used car that they need to call you. Money well spent!!! Clifford, Michigan

I just wanted to say Denise did a great job on my inspection. Because of her inspection, I was able to save $1,100. She found a couple of areas on the car where the paint job was subsatisfactory and the dealership agreed to correct the flaws prior to shipping me the vehicle.  This inspection has given me such piece of mind and confidence that I made a great purchase.  Terry, North Carolina (07-6-2010)

I will absolutely use you again in any future transaction.  I really felt the inspector hit all the right points in checking the car out and the photos with the arrows great, I really didn't expect that. I got what I really needed being 1,500 miles away from the car and that was unbiased view of what the car really was in terms of it's cosmetic and mechanical shape. Dean L.  New York (05-2010)

How to Avoid Getting Ripped Off!

In today’s world, many car sellers will take advantage of people’s limited knowledge of cars to come up with a profit. But if you take the right steps – like knowing how to recognize problems with a car and the best car inspection services you can trust – it will be easy to be confident in your transaction and get a good deal.

Whether you’re buying from a dealer or even a private party, there are several common scams used by sellers.  Some of these scams are blatantly fraudulent, while other tactics involve a more delicate subterfuge.  In many cases, sellers attempt to unload a car with a few deficient parts at full price, assuming that customers will not be able to identify these faulty components.  The best way to counteract these scams is to know about them beforehand. In some cases, you can avoid buying cars with shoddy parts by learning some basic self-inspection techniques.

  • Start with the tires. Used cars can often have tires with worn tread, and a new set of tires can cost as much as $400.  Check the tire tread to make sure it isn’t worn by putting a penny in the tread of the tire, with the head facing down; if the treads do not cover the head, the tires probably need to be replaced soon.
  • Check the fluids of the car. This includes oil, brake and steering fluid.
    • The oil can be checked by taking out the dipstick, a metal strip found at the end of a prominent ring under the hood. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it off with a cloth, reinsert it, then pull it out again and observe the line of oil left on the dipstick – the dipstick will have markings to indicate if this is low or high. Low oil levels indicate that the car may have a leak, or at least needs an oil change.
    • Brake and steering fluids can be inspected by opening the fluid containers (these are usually well marked under the hood). Check to see that the levels are full to the lines indicated.
  • When you test the car, listen for the brake pads. A high pitched squealing sound when you brake means the brake pads are wearing thin. However, it does not mean they are broken, it just means that they have worn down to the last 10-15% of usable padding.

Identifying any of these things means that the car will need work after you buy it and you should not be paying full price.

There are some things that not even experienced car buyers can identify on their own. That is why pre-purchase inspections are becoming increasingly popular. Pre-purchase inspection companies such as AiMmobileinspections.com are conducted by experienced auto inspectors who provide an accurate account of how well a car is working, and what needs to be repaired. AiM, the industry leader, conducts a comprehensive 150-point inspection available throughout the US.

Among the things AiM inspectors check for are frame damage, previous repair defects, and the functionality of all the cars systems, such as electrical and air conditioning. AiM has over 600 inspectors nationwide, and an excellent performance record. Having an inspection performed by AiM gives you the confidence of knowing what you’ll be getting, and gives you the advantage in getting a better deal.

Once you are well informed, make sure you are prepared to deal with the seller. While sellers may try to gain your confidence, make sure you are always aware of the details they are presenting you. Armed with knowledge and confidence from a pre-purchase inspection, you’ll be able to overcome these problems and get a great deal.
